It isn’t all sunshine and rainbows on Maui all the time. Not even close. Especially when you take into account what this Maui Musing is here to talk about - centipedes.
There are about 25 different centipede species in Hawaii, the most notorious of which is named scolopendra subspinipes, also called the “Large Centipede.” Eriko, co-founder of Zellee, comes across them quite often in her home and is absolutely horrified by them. As scared of these bugs as she is, she appreciates the role they play in the Hawaiian ecosystem eating other insects, like roaches, spiders, and even other centipedes. She also says they remind her to stay nimble and light on her feet, which is a good mindset to have when you’re in charge of running a company. Ok, one paragraph about creepy crawly centipedes is enough for this Maui Musing.
