Cue the music from Jaws. Just kidding, this Maui Musing is actually about the good stuff in the water we use in our products - minerals. One of the most frequently asked questions we get in our inbox is about the sea water in our ingredient list. It’s not as strange as it sounds. In fact, the trace minerals in the sea water we source are critical for replenishing your body with electrolytes.
We source our sea water from a company called Trace Minerals Research (scientific, right?). They harvest sea water from the Great Salt Lake (the oldest inland sea in the world, btw!) in Utah, which has been collecting and concentrating the minerals and trace elements of the surrounding Rocky Mountains for tens of thousands of years. This sea water contains over 72 ionic minerals and trace elements that are eight to ten times more concentrated than regular seawater—in precisely the same proportion as healthy human fluids. So, you see, the sea water we use in our sports jels isn’t just some fresh-off-the-beach sea water, it’s super sea water. Pretty rad, really.
